Healing with energy – this is how we can briefly describe Reiki. It is an entirely natural, holistic therapy that helps to restore the body and mind balance. By using universal, vital energy, Reiki helps us live healthily and fulfilled. How does it work, and what exactly is this Japanese healing system?
Eastern philosophies are based on the idea that the entire universe is filled with energy. It circulates continuously and serves every living organism, being the driving force behind all processes globally. It is called Prana in India, Qi in China and Ki in Japan. Hence the Rei-ki, or „universal life force energy”. We even know it in the West as bioenergy.
According to them, Eastern teachings agree on something else – diseases or problems in life have their source in the disturbed or blocked the flow of this universal force. Therefore, regaining a harmonious „flow” of energy is the key to enjoying full health and the joy of life.
The flow of life energy
Imagine that you had threads of freeway running through your body in different directions and connecting other parts of your body. After them, in Reiki, we call them meridians – the energy in our body moves, getting to it through specific „entrances”,, i.e. the so-called chakras.
For the movement of energy to be smooth, there should be no traffic jams, closed gates or pirates going against the road’s flow. A Reiki therapist, through a gentle touch and directing the life force, helps us to maintain this harmonious flow, unblock chakras and regain energetic balance throughout the body – but not only. Reiki works on all levels: body, mental, emotional and spiritual, so the benefits of using it will be felt in various areas of our lives.
What does the Reiki treatment look like
A Reiki therapist acts as a channel through which energy can flow further into the patient’s body. He works with his hands, gently applying them to different parts of the body. As a result, it directs energy to where it is needed. It does not apply pressure or stimulation of tissues, as is the case with the massage. Inactive healing, he also uses intentions and visualization to achieve an even better effect.
During the procedure, the patient usually lies on a massage bed or sits on a chair and relaxes. The University of Minnesota cites, among other things, such reactions to the meeting with Reiki energy:
- „I feel like I could fall asleep.”
- „Even after a massage, I feel more relaxed.”
- „I feel very refreshed, and I think I think more clearly.”
Indeed, the Reiki treatment’s direct result is often the feeling of freshness, lightness, and relief. The perception of pain is reduced, and the quality of sleep is also improved. When energy can circulate freely in the body, deep repair processes begin in it.
Interestingly, Reiki treatment can also be performed remotely. It looks very similar – the person using the healer’s help sends him his photo and address so that he can precisely direct energy to him. So if there is no Reiki practice in your area or for some reason you cannot go to it in person, nothing is lost – the distance treatment gives equally beneficial results.
Does Reiki heal diseases
There are many indications for the use of Reiki treatments: from the desire to free yourself from stress and improve the quality of life to support in the course of various diseases. Reiki helps, among others:
- regain a sense of peace and eliminate the effects of long-term stress,
- increase energy levels,
- restore emotional balance and faith in your abilities,
- awaken creativity and connection with intuition,
- raise the level of concentration,
- reduce sleep disorders,
- regenerate damaged tissues and speed up recovery after injuries, diseases or surgery,
- restore the efficiency of the body’s immune system,
- lower blood pressure,
- reduce allergy symptoms,
- regulate the endocrine system.
The use of Reiki healing in the treatment of diseases
Although we do not have scientific research that would confirm Reiki’s positive healing effect, more and more hospitals around the world offer their patients the possibility of healing with energy. They are used supportively in the integrated treatment of cancer and chronic diseases, and even in pediatric wards in the United States, Australia and the United Kingdom.
For example, at the California Pacific Medical Center, Reiki was used by Western medicine paediatrician Dr Michael Cantwell to treat musculoskeletal injuries, pain, acute infections, and asthma. In turn, research conducted at Hartford Hospital in Connecticut showed an 86% improvement in sleep quality and an 80% reduction in pain levels (source: https://www.asbestos.com/blog/2015/05/12/reiki-for-cancer -treatment /).
Doctors worldwide are beginning to discover the benefits of energy healing and recommend it as an adjunct to conventional treatments.
Is Reiki for you?
If Reiki could also help you, you can arrange a free, short-distance treatment. Thanks to this, you will see how energy healing affects you, and you will judge for yourself how valuable it benefits the inner balance of the body and mind.
